Feminism is one of the most talked-about social topics in today's era, and Bollywood is nowhere behind in contributing to this idea with a multitude of iconic movies. I have found some that are a must-watch with the entire family!


1.    Dil Dhadakne Do!



Why do women need permission to work or select their careers? This sensitive question was one of the remarkable scenes in the movie.

 

2.    Pink



"NO means NO" Explained so strongly became hype after the release. This courtroom drama wins captivates the audience with the fantastic portrayal of society and teaches the basics of respecting each one's consent.

 

3.    Mardaani



 A female cop searching serial rapist in the town leaves the audience in awe covering a few feminist aspects. This movie leaves a powerful impact on women's lead characters in cinema.

 

4.    Thappad



Story rotating around a divorce filed against a husband for slapping the wife. This underrated courtroom drama gives the best lesson of  "just once... but he can't." No one has the right to use violence for someone's frustration.

 

5.    Cheeni Kum Hai



A simple rom-com, with a twisted love story of 64 years old chef and a 34-year-old unmarried lady. The story moves satirical when they go convincing the lady's father to accept their relationship. Hitting a lot of feminist statements to give the right comic punch.

 

6.    English Vinglish



A lady who goes learning an all-new language to maintain her self-respect. The story with such a simple plot hits onto feminist aspects and moral lessons, is a perfect family watch!

 

7.    Mom



A rape case mystery, showing the powerful side of a simple mom. This suspense saga changes the ideology of typical female characters.

 

8.    Dangal



Ladies are not behind, be it anything in the house or on the field. This is a perfect reflection of society's gradual change and acceptance of the Phogat sisters.


9.    Gunjan Saxsena



Story of India's first women fighter plane pilot. Depicts a strong woman role and is filled with ambition and feminism.

 

10.  Saand ki Aankh



The story of two sisters and grandmothers of India who have world-class records in shooting is surely setting a benchmark for feminism in youth.
